Thomas More Society has filed a lawsuit on behalf of two parents in Missouri’s Kirkwood School District, challenging the Kirkwood School District leadership’s abusive handling of public record requests under Missouri’s Sunshine Law.


The petition, filed in May 2024, charges the school district and its Superintendent, David Ulrich, with intentionally withholding public records in violation of Missouri’s Sunshine Law. 

 

Missouri’s Sunshine Law requires public entities to disclose public records promptly. Despite having enough resources, the school district has claimed it cannot locate electronic and other public records concerning students and the school when requested by parents. 

 

Parents have a constitutional right to be involved in their children’s lives, education, and formation. Your gift will help Thomas More Society defend parents’ right to access basic information about their children and their children’s education.
